The wind isn't blowing as hard so I am breathing better. In fact, went out to California Pizza Kitchen today for lunch. They brought back my favorite thing ... roasted vegetable salad with grilled chicken.(check it out here). Came home and did more knitting on Yvette's wedding afghan. Also made a list of possible committee chairs for my year as PEO chapter president. How productive is that!! I'm obviously feeling better.
Oh, and the scale is still being friendly. I am very close to 221! Think I may see that tomorrow.
Here's a thought ... perhaps I don't feel well when I am overwhelmed. Getting those chairperson names down was a weight I didn't know I was carrying around. I have been sleeping alot ... again, perhaps a procrastination method. Going to pay attention to that.

Mar 1 - Breathing Again
Been a pretty good day ... got my hair cut, got some bills paid, got some groceries, finished some TODO's - and my stuffy head is clearing up. Watching "Avenger" from Netflix ... a made for TV movie ... I think I ordered it because Sam Elliot stars in it. Also has Timothy Hutton. Not much of a plot, but some interesting action. And I could listen to Sam Elliot all day long!
No appointments tomorrow, so I'm going to spend the day in the office, trying to force some order into the chaos.
Started a new way of organizing my TODO's ... one task each on an index card. Then I can throw the card away when I've done the task. It seems the physicality of having a card for each task makes some kind of impression.
Always looking for ways to be more efficient.

Leap Day
Saw a great sign in a store window, posted on Facebook ... "we will be closed today because it is not a real day. We will re-open March 1. Sorry for the inconvenience" ... needed the laugh!
Slowly getting through today in an antihistamine-induced fog. At least I slept well last night. Antihistamines really knock me on my ass. Didn't wake up till almost 11:30 this morning and still felt drugged. George called Charles and cancelled drum class for today. No way I could keep a beat, much less drive to Rio Rancho!
Good news is that feeling crummy has caused me to eat less. Scale said 222.2 this AM. I am 14.6 lbs down from where I started at the first of the year. About 7 lbs a month is a great average, I think. I do feel good about that, even tho' my body doesn't feel good about anything right now.
The ABQ Journal even had a front page piece on the high pollen count and spring winds. YUCK! Thank God we have such beautiful weather most of the time. These winds and blowing dust/pollen are just miserable!
Will spend today either in bed or in front of the TV knitting. No, that's not what I usually do, even tho' I am retired! Keeping my fingers crossed that this crud won't move into my chest.

Feb 28 - More weight loss
The scale was kind again today. Down to 223.2 Now within shooting distance of being in the teens. I can't remember the last time that was the case! I'm so excited!
I have a nasty head cold right now. Or it could be allergies. As I said yesterday, the spring winds have arrived. The cedar tree outside our breakfast area is puffing out pollen for all it's worth. Almost looks like a snow storm. No wonder I can hardly breathe. Hopefully, this will pass soon.
Really don't feel like writing much today ... yucky all the way around. See you tomorrow.

Feb 27 - It's a Monday
A nice, normal Monday ... that's how things are when one is retired. I no longer dread the end of the weekend.
The Albuquerque spring winds arrived last night. Some times the whole house shakes. So, the pollen is heavy and my eyes are itchy. But I know this will pass.
The scale remains steady ... even after a very nice dinner out with friends last night. I think I am getting the hang of this new way of eating and see much success for the future.
Still knitting away on the afghan for Yvette's wedding. It will suit her perfectly ... lots of bright colors and slip-stitched patterning ... bright and vibrant just like Yvette! But I am getting tired of the colors. I need to get finished so I can move on to sewing again. I have at least four unfinished pieces awaiting my return. And at least one of them will coordinate nicely with a shrug made from some yarn I just bought. So many things to do running around in my head.
But first, I must attack taxes. Oh bother!

Feb 25 ... back again
Wow! Has it been almost a month since the last post? If there are any of you out there who watch for these posts, I apologize for my absence. Will get back into the habit, especially if readers comment back to me so I know I'm not talking to myself!
The scale continues to decline. 223.4 this morning, which puts me 13.4 lbs down from the first of the year. This success even with an intervening trip to Dallas. So I know I am able to continue on my healthy eating lifestyle and travel. That is quite a comfort to me.
I heard back from the state PEO nominating committee. I won't be nominated to state executive board this year ... perhaps in another year or so if my chapter continues to propose my name. That will give me time this year to focus on the presidency of my chapter and the goals I want to reach with them.
Kind of in a mopey mood yesterday and today. Am in another of those places where I don't feel a focus in my life. I have PEO stuff to do, cruise clients to contact, knitting to finish ... so it's not for lack of available activities. Just feel a little at loose ends. But one of the joys of being old is that I've been through this before and know that it, too, will pass and I'll be my cheery self again soon!
The calendar looks manageable. For now I have not succumbed to my normal reaction to this "at loose ends" feeling by over committing myself! Perhaps with age also comes a little wisdom??
Still playing WoW. Thought I would roll up a character for ToR and even asked James for recommendations for servers, but, the more I think about it, the less inclined I am. I doubt that I have the time to play TWO MMORPGs! And I am still enjoying WoW.
Still listening to Isaacson's "Steve Jobs". Well written and a fascinating look at a complex character. Highly recommended.
Let me know if you are out there reading this. Would love to hear from you!

Feb 1 - A month of letters
Hi everybody:
In one of the knitting newsletters to which I subscribe (www.knittersreview.com) the author, Clara Parkes, mentioned Mary Robinette Kowal's "A Month of Letters" project. You can find it here. Mary suggests writing one thing a day during February ... a letter, a card, a short note ... as long as it is physically mailed.
The fun comes when people actually start writing back!
I used to LOVE to write letters ... I still have all the ones I've received over the years ... from old boyfriends, my parents, my best friend. They reside in a rather large box and it gives me great joy and sometimes a few nostalgic tears to look through them from time to time.
So I am going to try this Month of Letters project. I'll keep you posted on how it goes.
And ... on the health front ... I feel really good these days. The doc and I finally got my BP meds right, I am sleeping well, and eating well. And the scale continues on its downward glide ... 225.0 today. Down 11.8 pounds since I started on New Years ... and I still don't feel deprived or hungry ... although today I did have a passing craving for a burger ... thank goodness it passed before I passed a McDonald's!
